It was the end of 2019 in November when the first cases of the novel Coronavirus started to appear. The virus had its roots in Wuhan province of China, from where it emerged. There was a Chinese doctor namely Dr. Li Wenliang who was given the title of “Whistleblower” when he gave a warning about the possible outbreak of a disease. The doctor himself later became a victim of the deadly virus. The virus spread in the form of a chain reaction in the whole of China and then to the rest of world. As of result of this, all o the world went into lock down; some countries gradually and others immediately and this lock down sustained for 4–5 months in most countries, depending upon the severity of the virus.

So, how was life during lock down and how did people spend their time. The few common things that happened were that people weren’t able to attend the gym, they could not go to festivals and concerts, most of the weddings that had been planned were also postponed. The parks where children used to go for playing also got empty and nearly all the offices switched to work from home. So in essence, all people were forced to stay at home for the most part all over the world.

In homes, a number of males started participating in cooking food. The family time for each person increased. Also, the internet traffic saw significant growth in this period since all the work was done over the internet and the schools and colleges shifted to online education. The number of people attending online courses increased manifold.

Therefore, to conclude, I would say that although this pandemic and lockdown became a cause of pain for people all over the world and resulted in a large number of deaths, but on the other hand, the world saw the power and usefulness of the internet and how it can have the ability to change the future.
